STATEMENT BY PROFESSOR MAURICE KAMTO OF 3rd APRIL 2020

My dear compatriots,

“The world is at war against a particularly dangerous pandemic which is not sparing our country. We are not talking about war by fashion. We are indeed plunged into a health war which kills and will probably kill more than a conventional armed conflict with the usual weapons. But this is an even more terrible war with unknown targets and victims. While we’re still mourning the passing of an icon like Manu DIBANGO, there are many anonymous Cameroonians who are affected and who die from it. Who can guarantee that he or she will be alive after this pandemic? Each Cameroonian who dies from this viral attack is a deep wound for the Nation. So I feel the duty to draw the attention of, to propose, to call the abandoned Cameroonian people to organise themselves for their SURVIVAL.No matter the criticisms and the insults. Statement 2020-04-14

The Management committee of «Survie-Cameroon-Survival Initiative » (SCSI) informs all donors and the national and international community that the support operations, provisions and assistance to populations as part of the COVID-19 response initiated by Prof. Maurice Kamto is being set up gradually, surely and rapidly. Despite the unhealthy manoeuvres aimed at preventing the SCSI from supporting the populations, we invite them to remain mobilized to defend their lives. We shall be deploying at any time and wherever needed to provide maximum assistance to each person on Cameroonian territory. As the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) has just reminded us, in line with the point of view of this popular and non-partisan initiative, this ordeal requires national solidarity and unity against an enemy that knows no political, philosophical or religious boundaries. .

Christian PENDA EKOKA,
Chairman of the Management Committee SCSI

STATEMENT/2020-04-07

While making reference to the April 3rd 2020 statement by Prof. Maurice KAMTO through which he launched the popular and non-partisan project "Survie-Cameroun-Survival-Initiative" (SCSI) in order to fight  the multifaceted harmful effects of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in our country, I’m hereby informing the public that I have agreed to chair the SCSI Management Committee. In order to break the chain of contamination of this virus, our first actions will give priority to the local manufacturing and distribution of face masks and hydro-alcoholic hand sanitisers. I would like to thank all the donors and to assure them that everything is being done to achieve the objectives assigned to this project. In view of the urgency of the situation, I would like to thank the administrators for their diligence in facilitating the unprecedented wave of solidarity shown by Cameroonians worldwide and from all sides to help their fellow citizens  either affected or likely to be affected by this pandemic. The public will be regularly updated on the development of our activities."
